Success Of Alcohol Rehabilitation In The United States?

How would you define success? Is it successful if you’re in prison or a mental hospital, and you aren’t allowed to have alcohol?
Do you have to totally stop drinking to be rehabilitated? What if you decrease your drinking by 50% or 75% or 90%?
Is it successful if you stopped drinking for a day? a week, a month, a year? What if you stopped drinking for 10-20 years and started drinking again-would this person be considered rehabilitated or not?
Are you rehabilitated if you stopped drinking, but you are tortured by cravings every day, every hour? An AA’er might consider that person rehabilitated, but would the average non-drinking person?
Even alcoholism is not easy to define…many people can socially drink, can take it or leave it; some people binge, but can still stop drinking; others just take one drink, and they’re hooked. Some fall somewhere in between…
